MODERN IMPRESSIONIST

Welcome to my studio.

After all these years, I've come to think of painting as a way of paying attention. The seasons set the tone — they always have — and I follow where they lead. A canvas, for me, begins as a response to something felt rather than seen: a mood, a weight, a shift in the light.

Much of my work lives in the space between two feelings. There is the quiet pull of anxiety, and there is the ease that comes from being out in the world, among trees and water and open sky. I move between them. I've learned not to resolve the tension so much as to let it breathe.

I paint in broad, strong brushstrokes, keeping things simple and letting color carry the emotion. A winter rainstorm becomes a kind of dark comfort — a melancholy you can settle into. Then summer light arrives, sudden and warm, and changes everything. What hangs on these walls is less a picture of a place than a record of how it felt to put my brush and paint onto the canvas.

I'm glad you've come. Take your time.
